Curtis Raymond Avery, age 81, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at the Laurens County Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Laurens and was a son of the late Ludie Frank Avery, Sr. and Mary Lucille Metts Avery. He was a veteran of the US Army and worked in the logging industry for many years.
Mr. Avery is survived by his son, Jamie Avery; his three daughters, Elaine Collins (Dewey), Mary Waltmann (Bruce), and Betty Joe Case; his four brothers, Ludie Frank Avery, Jr. (Polly), George Washington Avery, Jimmy Metts Avery (Virginia), MacArthur Eugene Avery; his three sisters, Geraldine Avery Morris, Lynda Avery Pynland (Larry), Virginia Avery Nelson (Curtis) and many grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he is predeceased by two brothers, Samuel Joseph Avery and Bobby Allen Avery.
A memorial service will be planned by the family and held at a later date.
