R. Carson Nabors, age 86, of 819 Sunset Blvd. died Monday, April 4, 2011 in the NHC of Clinton.
He was born in Clinton and was the son of the late Grover Cleveland and Mattie Adair Nabors.
Mr. Nabors was the owner of Nabor’s Gulf Station in Joanna, was a member of the Joanna First Baptist Church, a Charter member of the Joanna Lions Club, member of the Magnolia Masonic Lodge # 355, member of the Laurens County Shrine Club and was a WW II US Navy veteran.
He was predeceased by his wife, Gladys Willingham Nabors.
Mr. Nabors is survived by two sons and daughter-in-laws, Dennis A. and Angelia Nabors of Joanna and David C. and Ronna Nabors of Clinton; a daughter and son-in-law, Dale N. and Lin Hamilton of York; six grandchildren, Wade Tumblin, Brett Hamilton, Nicole Suber, Nolan Nabors, Hunter Nabors and Carsyn Nabors; four great grandchildren, Kailey Suber, Colby Suber, Bailey Tumblin, Carlee Nabors; a brother, Dr. Oran Nabors of Denton, TX.
Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in the Rosemont Cemetery in Clinton followed by a visitation from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Joanna First Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Childrens Hospital, 950 W. Faris Rd., Greenville, SC 29605, the Joanna First Baptist Church, 301 Magnolia St., Joanna, SC 29351 or the Joanna Lions Club, C/O Bob Simpson, 1671 Horeseshoe Falls Rd, Enoree, SC 29335.
The family will be at the home of his son, Dennis Nabors, 604 Blalock Dr., Joanna.
