Rev. Jayon McKee

 Rev. Jayon McKee, age 85, husband of Anita Bull McKee, passed away, Monday, January 13, 2025 Prisma Health Laurens Hospital. 

 He was born on June 2, 1939 in Marietta, South Carolina and was the son of the late Robert Lee McKee and Amanda Wall McKee. He retired from the SC Dept of Corrections as a Vocational Instructor in McCormick, SC. Jayon was a Pastor and in ministry for 30 years. He was the current pastor at Lighthouse Tabernacle Church, loving the Lord and doing the Lord’s work. 

 In addition to his wife of 35 years, Jayon is survived by his son, David McKee, Jr. (Debbie) of Whitmire; his daughters, Cheri Harris (Lorne Ward) of Buffalo, Tina Moody (Joe) of Campobello, Michelle Stott of Landrum, Nisty Smith (John Cotney) of Clinton, Sherry Dye (Byron) of Myrtle Beach; his sister, June Watkins of Clinton; his 6 grandchildren; his 6 great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Sandra McCall (Sam) of Spartanburg and Jean Blackwell of Bradley; his special friends, Emily Gregory of Bradley, Carter and Zaundra Hicks of Indiana, Terry and Judy Knight of Laurens; his lifelong friend, Leroy Lawson of Kinards; his children at heart, Steve Barrett (Andrea) of Clinton and Ginger Brown of Myrtle Beach.

 Jayon is preceded in death by his siblings, Catherine Carringer, Oliver Carringer, Johnny Carringer, Bob Carringer, Archie McKee, Lionel Mckee, Charles McKee; his grandson, Chris McKee; his buddy, Charles Wilson and his mother-in-law, Kathleen Tyner. 

 Funeral Services will be held Sunday, January 19, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Lighthouse Tabernacle Church with Rev. Mike Campbell officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday evening at the church from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM. 

 In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Lighthouse Tabernacle Church, 1850 Milam Road, Clinton, SC 29325
