Bachman Bailey Harris, Sr.

Dateline-Clinton, SC -
Rev. Bachman Bailey Harris, Sr., age 74 a resident of Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Center and longtime resident of Clinton died Friday, July 30th at the Laurens County Hospital.
He was born in Columbia, SC and was a son of the late John Bailey and Ida Battle Harris.
Rev. Harris was the founding Director of Bethelwoods Camp and Conference Center in York County, served as a social worker and counselor for ten years at John de la Howe School in McCormick, SC and served as the Associate Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Clinton. He also was a former counselor with Laurens County Mental Health and was a U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Williams Harris of Clinton; one son, B. Bailey Harris, Jr. and wife, Beth of Lexington; one daughter, Michelle Harris Ellis and husband, Steve of Gray Court; one sister, O’Neal Lannon of Greensboro, NC; six grandchildren and two special friends, Pam LaHay Orr of Clinton and Charles LaHay of Elm City, NC.
Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday, Aug. 3rd at 3:00 p.m. in the Blackville Cemetery in Blackville, SC.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Aug. 4th at 3:00 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church of Clinton where the family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service.
