Rev. G. Browning Goldsmith, Jr. age 90, died Friday, April 29, 2011 in the NHC of Clinton.
He was born in Greenville and was the son of the late Elizabeth McCall Goldsmith and G. Browning Goldsmith, Sr.
Rev. Goldsmith was educated in the Greenville City Schools, received a BS degree from the Citadel and received a Masters Degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
He was a member of the Clinton First Baptist Church and served churches in Cleveland, Ohio, Hardeeville, SC and in Newberry, SC., he was the Chaplain of Hunting Island State Park. He served as a former Chaplain and member of the American Legion, “Golden K” Kiwanis Club of Spartanburg and Beaufort, S.C., a member of Murray Clan Society of North America, and Sons of the American Revolution.
Rev. Goldsmith was a Veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII.
He is survived by his wife, Lane Porter Goldsmith of Clinton; two sons, George B. Goldsmith, III of Travelers Rest, and James B. Goldsmith of Chattanooga, TN; four grandchildren, Amanda Goldsmith, Timothy Goldsmith, George B. Goldsmith, IV, and Olivia Goldsmith.
Rev. Goldsmith was predeceased by a son, Joseph McCall Goldsmith.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, May 2nd at 3:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Clinton with burial in Pinelawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends Monday afternoon at Bailey Manor from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.
