Wyoming – Richard A. Menken, 49, of Enoree, SC , formerly of Wyoming & Princeville, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2009 , at his residence in Enoree.
Rich was born July 24, 1960, in Peoria , the son of Henry A. & Mary Schwabe Menken, He met his wife, Lois Schmidt Huff, on Friday, May 13, 1994, and were married on October 5, 2001, in Toulon.
She survives, along with two sons, Mathew A. (Tina Watters, Fiancé) Menken of Wyoming, and Kenneth A. Menken of Virginia Beach , VA ; two step-sons, Anthony J. (Melissa) Hebel of Clarksville, TN, and Dustin C. Huff of Wyoming, IL; five grandchildren; one brother, Timothy Menken of Chillicothe, IL; one sister, Peggy Gray of Peoria; one half sister, Patty Janosov of Washington, IL; father, Henry Menken of Clark, MO; mother, Mary Stage of Peoria; uncle, Herman (Barb) Menken of LaFayette, and many nieces & nephews.
He will be loved and remembered by his wife’s family members, mother-in-law, Alice Schmidt, Peru, sister and brother-in-law Beth and Barry Welbers, Spring Valley, sister and brother-in-law Denise and Denny Gash, Kingsport, TN, sister and brother-in-law Jayne and David Floyd, Enoree, SC, brother and sister-in-law Bill and Kim Schmidt, Leitchfield, KY, brother and sister-in-law Matthew and Becky Schmidt, and brother Nicholas Schmidt, Mendota, IL.
Rich, the most caring, giving and generous man you would want to know, was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Rich worked as a quality manager/engineer for the past 25 years for various manufacturers in Illinois and Missouri, most recently as a Quality Engineer with Belcan Engineering, Peoria.
He enjoyed spending time with his wife and soulmate, working in their gardens, and processing the fruits of their labors. He always enjoyed making a “family feast” on Sundays and spending quality time with his children and grandchildren, who he dearly loved.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 9, 2010, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville. Rev. Troy Agema will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home, and also a half hour prior to the service on Saturday. Cremation will be accorded following the service.
