Richard E. Johnson

Richard E. Johnson, age 65 of 1012 Herron Ave. died Wednesday, June 6, 2007 in the Newberry Co. Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Whitmire and was a son of the late Charlie Luther and Verona Davenport Johnson.
He was retired from West Point Stevens; attended the Whitmire Pentecostal Church and was a former member of the Rescue Squad.
He was a retired Staff Sgt. in the U.S. Army.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce Seymore Johnson of the home, two daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa Hicks and John, of Lexington and Lana Moore and Jamie, of Beaufort; a son, Blake Johnson of the home and his friend, April Bodie; three sisters, Vivian J. McCall of Vero Beach, FL, Doris J. Gambrell of Little Mountain and Lucy J. Mathis of Whitmire; one brother, C. L. Johnson, Jr. of Whitmire, three granddaughters, Lexie Moore, Ashley Moore and Sarah Hicks and one step-granddaughter, Ana Hicks.
He was predeceased by a sister, Patricia J. St Clair.
Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, June 9th at 11:00 a.m. in Whitmire Cemetery of Whitmire.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Gray Funeral Home in Clinton.
