Richard L. Gardner, age 63 of 214 Mansdale Dr. passed away Monday, June 11, 2012 at the Laurens County Hospital.
He was born in Clinton, SC and was a son of the late Harold “Beau” and Janet Bodie Gardner.
Mr. Gardner was retired from Whitten Center with 30 years of service. He served in the US Navy as a veteran of the Vietnam War having served as a Navy Seal. He was a member of the First Pentecostal Holiness Church and for many years coached and umpired sports at the Clinton YMCA .
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 45 years, Martha White Gardner; one son, B.J. Gardner and wife, E.J. of Clinton; two daughters, Lorrie Boling and husband, John of Joanna, Mimi Sparkman and husband, Mike of Clinton; one brother, Jay Gardner and wife, Lori of Clinton; one sister, Tina Kelley and husband Ray of Joanna; five grandchildren, Zackary Boling, Collin Sparkman, Lucas Sparkman, Bella Gardner and Lily Gardner and several nieces and nephews and one special sister-in-law, Linda Pasco.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, June 14th at 2:00 p.m. at the First Pentecostal Holiness Church by Rev. Sherrill Green and Rev. Mark Enterkin.
The family will receive friends Wednesday at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
