Richard Mentor Montgomery, Jr., age 84 a resident of the Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Center died Friday, March 14, 2008 in the Laurens County Hospital.
He was born in Asheville, NC and was a son of the late Richard M. Montgomery, Sr. and the late Frances Brevard Redman Montgomery.
Mr. Montgomery was a Clemson graduate, a retired employee of the Laurens Glass Company, member of the First Baptist Church, was Scout Master of Troop 265 in Greer for 13 years, a member of the Palmetto Masonic Lodge #44 and a U.S. Army veteran of WWII.
Surviving are his wife, Jacquelyn Johnson Montgomery; two sons, George R. Montgomery and wife, Nancy of Prosperity, SC, Robert S. Montgomery and wife, Kathleen of Charleston, SC; two grandchildren, Robert S. Montgomery II and Anthony Stith and wife, Melanie; two great grandchildren, Emme and John.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Lillian Carter.
Graveside services will be conducted Sunday, Mar. 16th at 2:00 p.m. in Westview Memorial Park by Rev. Bev Kennedy and Rev. Dr. Russell Dean.
