Richard (Rick) Grooms, Sr., age 54, of 12167 Hwy. 76 W. died Thursday, November 26, 2009 in the Greenville Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Charleston and was the son of the late Talley G. and Myrtle Juanita Grooms and also his step-father, the late George Griffin of Holly Hill.
Rick is survived by his wife, Sherry Anthony Grooms of the home; one daughter, Haylie Annette Grooms of the home; two sons, Richard (Richie) L. Grooms, Jr. and his wife, Karen of Summerville and Cory Odell Scott Grooms of Camden; two step-sons, Jackie S. Anthony and his wife, Jennifer of Gray Court and Timothy (Timmy) Anderson of the home; granddaughters, Dezirae Mitchell and Kimberlann Grooms of Summerville and Jada Anthony of Clinton; grandsons, Blade Anthony, Clay Anthony and Travis Anthony all of Clinton; brothers, Talley R. Grooms, Sr. and his wife, Judy of Gray Court and James H. Grooms of Newberry; sisters, Terry J. Spell and her husband, Melvin of Dorchester, Harriet G. Youmans and her husband, Paul of Walterboro and Kathy D. Howe and her husband, John of Holly Hill.
He was predeceased by a son, Christopher M. Grooms and a brother, Kenneth Griffin.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 12:00 noon at the home.
