Robert Lindsey Barney

 Robert Lindsey Barney, age 79, husband of Elaine Batson Barney, passed away, Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at Hospice of Laurens County. 

 He was born on February 9, 1945 in Glenville, North Carolina and was the son of the late Winifred Ina Owen Whitmire Brookshire. Robert retired from Budweiser Distribution, a member of Fairview Baptist Church where he was a former deacon and a mason. He loved being outdoors hunting and gardening. 

 In addition to wife of 58 years, Robert is survived by his son, Donald Shane Barney (Robin), his grandchildren, Mia Shay Barney Moore (Charlie) and Brandon Walker Barney; his great-grandchildren, Garrett, Adalyn and Emery; his brothers, Jesse Whitmire of Travelers Rest and Dillard Whitmire of Asheville, NC; his sisters, Mildred Fisher of Arden, NC, and Frances Ellenburg of Travelers Rest. 

 Memorial Services with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Clinton with Rev. Mark Bernshausen officiating. The family will greet friends immediately following the service.
