Robert Allen Crain, Sr., age 75, of Joanna, widower of Judith E. Crain, passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at Hospice of Laurens County.
He was born May 3, 1946 in Clinton and was a son of the late Robert Lee and the late Ruby Norris Crain. He retired as a Correctional Officer with the South Carolina Department of Corrections. Robert loved his family more than anything, they were his most cherished possessions. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and loved bowling himself and cherished the years he bowled with his family. He was most proud of watching Allen and Drew bowling many 300 games over the years.
He is survived by his sons, Allen Crain (Ann), and Ryan Crain (Stacey) all of Gray Court; grandchildren, Drew Crain, Jakob Crain, and Logan Crain, all of Gray Court; his step-children, Sherry Sanford (Danny) of Missouri, Marsha Alexander of Greenwood, Ricky Mize (Gerry) of Missouri, and Brian Mize (Cathy) of Clinton; and his brothers, Sam Crain (Barbara) of Sumter, Danny Crain of Clinton, and Donny Crain (Denise) of Clinton; and 17 total grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was predeceased by a brother, David Erskine Crain, and his sister, Rebecca Lynn Crain.
Cryptside Services will be held Friday, August 13, 2021, 1PM at the Pinelawn Memory Gardens Chapel Mausoleum with Rev. Mike Campbell officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
