Robert Bennett “R.B.” Jones, Sr, age 94, of 148 Lick Creek Road, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2016, at his home.
He was born in Pickens, SC and was a son of the late Samuel Bennett and Willie Mae Freeman Jones. He was a member of Rosemont Baptist Church and the Men’s Sunday School Class, and he was retired from Southern Railroad.
Mr. Jones is survived by his son, Robert B. Jones, Jr. of Waterloo; his daughters, Carolyn B. Jones of Waterloo and Joyce A. George (Bill) of Greenville; his brother, Bobby Samuel Jones; his sister, Cecil Mae Morgan; nine grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Cornelia Jones; three children, Robert Sherrill Jones, Cornelia June Forrest, and Sandra Darlene Bridgeman, three grandchildren, one brother and five sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 4th, at 2:00 PM, at the Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Laurens, with burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 PM.
