Dateline-Laurens, SC -
Roberta Switzer Hill, age 94, a resident of Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Center and widow of George Walter Hill, Jr. died Thursday, May 26, 2011.
Bert was a lifelong native of Laurens and was a daughter of the John Edward and Frances Graham Switzer.
She was a former employee of the Laurens YMCA and Gray Funeral Home, she was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Laurens where she taught the Youth Aged Sunday School Class for 20 years.
Mrs. Hill is survived by her two nephews, Jim Majors of Athens, TN and John Majors and wife, Gloria of Menlo, GA; two great nephews, Doug Majors and wife, Jenny of Brentwood, TN and Brad Majors and wife, Rosa of Mt. Pleasant, SC; a great niece, Rebecca Smith and husband, Michael of Knoxville. TN; five great-great nephews; four great-great nieces and a very special friend Ethel Jennings.
In addition to her husband and her parents she was predeceased by two sisters, Frances Montjoy and Edna Majors.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, May 31st at 2:00p.m. at the Rasor Chapel of the Martha Franks Baptist Church Retirement Center by Rev. Dr. Russell Dean and Rev. Bill Rogers with burial in the Laurens City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends before the service at the Rasor Chapel from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Center and Dr. Melmoth Patterson for the excellent care they have provided Bert over her stay there.
