Robert M. (Bob) Duckett Sr., age 71, formerly of 130 Pine Avenue, died Wednesday, July 5, 2006 in the National Healthcare in Clinton. He was born in Whitmire and was the son of the late Robert Maxwell and Marian Hentz Duckett.
Mr. Duckett was retired from the Torrington Company and was a member of the American Legion, Good Fellows Club, Roseboro Masonic Lodge, Lions Club, Whitmire Presbyterian Church, and a former member of the Whitmire Rescue Squad. He was also a former Newberry County Councilman and Magistrate. Mr. Duckett was a U.S. Army Veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Ellen Abee Duckett of the home; a son, Robbie Duckett and wife Laura of Whitmire; three daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara Reager and husband Ken of Asheville, Deborah Haydock and husband Wayne of Spartanburg, Renee Son and husband Sydney of Charleston; two brothers, Bill Duckett and wife Retha of Whitmire, Maxwell Duckett of Laurens; six grandchildren, Gabriel Duckett, Jay Dunaway, Jonathan and Elaina Alcocer, Angie Laws and Amanda Dickert; and one great-grandchild, Isaiah Laws.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in the Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Whitmire with interment in the Whitmire Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
