Roger Allen Burris, age 66, of 706 Owens Drive, passed away December 29, 2017 at his home.
He was born in Du Quoin, IL and was a son of the late Billie and Rose Fisher Burris.
He was employed with Milliken, Sycamore Transportation Warehouse for 37 years and was a United States Air Force veteran. He was a member and Past President of the Laurens Exchange Club, the Laurens County Fair Association, and was Past President of the State Exchange Club. Roger was a member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Laurens.
Roger is survived by his wife, Mary Hamilton Burris, of the home; his three sons, Matthew Gilstrap (Simone) of Dallas, TX, Mark Gilstrap (Patricia) of Mauldin, Mitchell Gilstrap (Melissa) of Laurens; the loves of his life, his four grandchildren, Gracin, Peyton, Audrey, and Eli Gilstrap; his five brothers, Joe Burris of Coulterville, IL, Eddie Burris of Coulterville, IL, Kenny Burris of Coulterville, IL, Mickey Burris of Florida, Donnie Burris (Whitney) of Muncie, IN, and Bobbie Burris (Wendy) of Battle Creek, MI; his two sisters, Judy Rainey (Bill) of Coulterville, IL and Sally Hepp (Phil) of Coulterville, IL; and his beloved furry companion, Maggie Mae.
In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his brother, Terry Burris.
A Celebration of Life will be Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at 3:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church of Laurens with Military Honors. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the sanctuary.
