Ronald C. Thomas, age 72 of 22483 Hwy 121, died Monday, July 28th at his home after an extended illness.
He was born in Whitmire and was the son of Louella Huneycutt Thomas and the late Ealie C. Thomas.
Mr. Thomas served as a Fire Warden with International Paper Company for 10 years; was a retired employee of J.P. Stevens; a veteran of the South Carolina Army National Guard; a member of the Roseboro Masonic Lodge #195; and a fireman with 28 years of service with the Whitmire Volunteer Fire Dept.
Surviving are his mother, Louella H. Thomas; his wife, Phyllis Stone Thomas of the home; a daughter, Melissa T. Stevens; a son, Stephen Thomas, both of Whitmire; two sisters, Barbara Bowman of Greenville and Mary Alice Pugh of Whitmire, and two grandchildren, Nicholas "Nick" and Brandon Norris.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, July 31st at 11:00 a.m. in the Gray Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in the Whitmire Cemetery with Military and Masonic Rites. Escort to be provided by the Whitmire Fire Department and the Patriot Guard Riders.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
