Roy David Whitney, age 75, of 319 North Adair Street, passed away Friday, October 17, 2014 at the Diamond Health Rehab in Simpsonville, SC.
He was born in Halfway, MO and was a son of the late Silas and Ruby Griffith Whitney.
Mr. Whitney retired from the US Air Force and was a Vietnam Veteran; he was a former employee of ARA Food Service and Whitten Center for several years. He was a member of Davidson Street Baptist Church.
He is survived by his son Clark Whitney (Andrea) of Simpsonville; his daughter Karen Watts (Tim) of Union; his step-son Chevis Barfield of Columbia; his step-daughter Helen Pryor (Marcus) of Charlotte; his brothers Steve Whitney of Central, MO and Mike Whitney of Springfield, MO; and his grandsons Robert Whitney (Kalyn), Chris Watts (Loren), Aaron Watts and Chevy Barfield.
He was predeceased by his wife Dianne Whitney, his son John David Whitney, his brothers Donald Whitney and Robert Whitney and his sisters Martha Robertson and Mildred Whitney.
Graveside services will be held on Sunday, October 19th at 3:30 p.m. at Rosemont Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
