Ruby M. Hairston

Ruby Moss Hairston , age 90, of Cherokee NC, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, April 22, 2022 after a brief illness. She was born in Clinton, SC and was the daughter of the late Carrie Craine and Olin D. Moss. She is preceded in death by her husband Harold Hairston and her brother Odis Moss.

She is survived by her two sons, Wayne Hairston (Conney) of Clinton SC and Steve Hairston (Cathy C.) of Cherokee NC. Two grandchildren, Thomas Hairston (Jennifer) of Greenwood SC and Tedda Huskey (Nick) of Cherokee NC. Five great grandchildren, Zane and Danicka Huskey, Madeline, Mackenzie and Major Hairston, and her special card playing friends John H Cooper, Joaquin Layno, and Lily Wright. Two sisters-in-law, Joann C. Hairston and Carolyn H. May (Junior). She leaves behind many special nieces and nephews and close friends whom she loved as her own.

She was a former employee of Clinton Mills- Lydia Cloth Room and a member of Lydia Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, cross stitching, fishing, gardening and canning.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 25th from 1pm to 3pm at Gray Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow immediately at Rosemont Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Nick Huskey, Zane Huskey, Thomas Hairston, John Cooper, Joaquin Layno and Jason Mode. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Hairston and Jimmy Neal.
