Ruth Holder Ammons, age 93, widow of James H. Ammons, Sr., passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at Hospice of Laurens County.
She was born January 31, 1929 in Clinton, SC and was the daughter of the late Norman Terrell Holder and Elizabeth Emily Parsons Holder. She retired from Eastside Elementary School and was a former employee of C.W. Anderson. Mrs. Ammons loved her church and was a member of Bellview Baptist Church for over 55 years, where she served as Secretary of her Sunday School Class for over 20 years. She was also the oldest living member of the church. She loved working jig-saw puzzles and reading.
Mrs. Ammons is survived by her daughter, Patricia Kitchens (Barry) of Clinton; her two grandchildren, Tanya Kitchens Meade (Scott) and Jason Kitchens; her four great-grandchildren; Nathan and Natalie Meade, Abby and Sophie Kitchens; and her brother, Johnny C. Holder (Cat).
In addition to her parents and her husband of 62 years, she is preceded in death by her son, James H. Ammons, Jr.; her brothers, Norman Holder and Doc Jeff Holder; and her sister, Mary Holder.
Funeral services will be held 4:00 P.M. Thursday, August 18, 2022 at Bellview Baptist Church with burial to take place in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the committal service at the cemetery.
