Ruth Tankersley Mckee

Ruth Tankersley McKee, age 89, of Newberry, SC, widow of Ernest Lionel McKee, passed away Sunday, February 6, 2022, at her home.
Born October 21, 1932 in Whitmire, SC, she was a daughter of the late Hugh and Vallie Welch Tankersley. She was formerly employed with Whitten Center, and later in life enjoyed being a sitter and caregiver for several families in the Whitmire area. She also loved having a booth at the Maggie Valley Flea Market.
Ruth was a Charter member, Sunday school teacher, and Youth Director of Clinton Road Wesleyan Church; later becoming a member of Heritage Wesleyan Church of Whitmire.
She is survived by her daughters, Frankie McKee Church (Gene) of Gatlinburg, TN, Whitney McKee and Brittany McKee both of Newberry; sister, Julia Mae Satcher of Newberry; and a host of grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. McKee was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Chapman; and her brother, Elmer Joe Tankersley.
Funeral Services will be held 3:00 PM, Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at Heritage Wesleyan Church with Pastor Mark Stevenson, Mr. Dean Sanders, and Rev. Eddie Bledsoe officiating. Burial will follow in the Whitmire Cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 – 3:00 PM at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heritage Wesleyan Church, 191 Broom Street, Whitmire, SC 29178.
