Sallie Newton, May 21, 1919 to Dec. 19, 2009, daughter of Dr. David Hyder Funderburk and Linnie Phonecia Baucom of Tradesville, SC has completed her sojourn here on Earth and has passed through the wide-open Pearly Gates of Heaven. She is survived by a sister, Christine Crosby of Chapin SC, a son Curtis Shelton Lackey and his spouse Judy of Greenville, SC, a grandson Brett Lackey of Clemson, a granddaughter Rebecca Anderson of Charleston, SC, and many nieces and nephews.
A burial service is planned for 2:00 P.M. on December 23, 2009 at the Gray Funeral Home in Whitmire, SC. The Reverend Tommy McManus of Union, SC, a nephew, will conduct the service. Additionally, a memorial service is planned for January 2, 2010, at 2:00 P.M. at the Trinity Wesleyan Church in Central SC. The Reverend James Wiggins will conduct this service. The family will be available following the service to receive friends.
