Samuel Keith Starnes

Samuel Keith Starnes, age 71, of 701 Cedar St. died Thursday, April 24, 2014 at his home. Born in Cross Anchor, he was the son of the late Grover and Annie Laurie Cogdill Starnes. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and was retired from Rowan Oil Company. Mr. Starnes was also member of the American Legion and the VFW, a Vietnam US Army Veteran, and a recipient of two Purple Hearts.
He is survived by his wife, Carole Martin Starnes of the home; son Jackie Johnson of Clinton; daughter Debbie Johnson of Kinards; sisters Dorothy Willard of Boiling Springs and Nancy Bailey of Spartanburg; grandchildren Christy Knowlton, Brandon Lewis and Erica Lewis; and special great-grandsons Aurjay Lewis and John Knowlton.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 27, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Clinton followed by burial at Pinelawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 before the service.
