Sandra Wilson Gilliam

Sandra W. Gilliam, age 78, wife of Billy Gilliam, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
She was born on October 9, 1944 in Lexington, SC and was a daughter of the late Otis and Edna Hendrix Wilson.
Mrs. Gilliam was a former supervisor at Renfro and a member of the Whitmire United Methodist Church. She loved working in her yard and her grandchildren were “her heart.”
She is survived by her son, Billy Gilliam, Jr. (Tami) of Whitmire; her daughters, Sandy Wicker (Randy) of Joanna and Lisa Maness (Stephen) of Whitmire; her sisters, June Carson of Prosperity, Mae Goff and Lillian DeRock both of Newberry; her grandchildren, Audrey McDaniel, Lee Sims (Aminee), Will Gilliam, Jacob Gilliam; and her great-grandchildren, Carter Gilliam, Paisleigh Sims and Ansleigh McDaniel.
In addition to her parents, Sandra was predeceased by a granddaughter, Shelly Wicker; a sister, Judy Jolly and brothers, Sonny Wilson and Buck Wilson.
A Memorial service will be held on Friday, March 24, 2023 at the First Baptist Church of Whitmire at 2:00 PM with Rev. Chad Ponder and Rev. Kenny Weaver officiating. The family will greet friends at the church from 1:00 PM -2:00 PM prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 901 S. Pine St., Spartanburg, SC 29302 or a charity of one’s choice.
