Sarah Cronic, a resident and civic activist of Laurens County, died Wednesday, September 10, 2014.
Mrs. Cronic was born on September 11, 1925 in Montgomery, Alabama. She was the loving spouse of Henry T. Cronic. She is survived by her daughter, Reverend Daria T. Cronic, PhD of Clinton and sister, Joan Sobocinski (Don) of Houston, Texas.
Mrs. Cronic lived an extraordinary life of travel and service. With her husband, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Henry Cronic, she lived in many regions across the United States and Europe. Although she loved and made an indelible difference in each location, Clinton held a special place in her heart. She and her family retired to Clinton in 1968. Since that time, Mrs. Cronic has been an active member of many organizations: Laurens County Beautification Commission, Clemson Extension Service, Laurens County Accommodations Tax Advisory Committee, Laurens County Chamber of Commerce, Laurens County Arts Council, Laurens County Historical Society and Laurens County Board of Realtors. She was well known for her ideas, advice and leadership to these organizations during very critical periods of economic change within Laurens County.
Sarah Cronic has received several awards: Laurens County Athena Award and Laurens County Council‘s resolution.
Mrs. Cronic was known best for her sense of fairness and her straightforward method of communication. She was sustained all of her life through her abiding love for her community, her family and most importantly, God. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church.
The family is receiving visitors at Gray Funeral Home on Friday evening from 5 to 7 P.M..
Church services will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Columbia on Saturday at 11:00 A.M. followed by internment at the Catholic Cemetery in Columbia.
