Sarah Peck Weaver Abrams, 85, of Canterbury Court, Atlanta, Georgia: formerly of Decatur, Alabama; Whitmire, South Carolina; Winston-Salem, North Carolina; and Salem, South Carolina died on November 1, 2006.
She was a 1942 graduate of Alabama Women’s College, a Captain in the Women’s Army Corps during World War II, and an active United Methodist and community volunteer. Her husband of 43 years, James Henderson Abrams, died in 1988, and her eldest son James Henderson Abrams, Jr. died in 2003.
Surviving are her daughter Sally Weaver Abrams Dean and her husband Peter of Atlanta; her son Thomas Peck Abrams and his wife Amy of Atlanta; Four grandchildren: Logan Sharpe Abrams of Tulsa, Oklahoma; James Henderson Abrams III, a Peace Corps volunteer in Kenya; Sarah Patricia Dean of Washington, D. C.; and Patrick Thomas Dean, of Colby College and Atlanta; a sister Julia Weaver Salmen of Oak Park Heights, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at Whitmire Cemetery on Saturday, November 4, at 2:30pm and a memorial service will be held at the Little Chapel, Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church on Sunday, November 5, at 2:00 pm in Atlanta, Ga.
