Scott Merriam Bigham, age 56, of 114 Whispering Way, entered eternity on Thursday, September 24th, 2015, and is celebrating his victory over cancer with his heavenly father.
He was born in Vandalia, IL and was the son of Joyce Van Sant Bigham-Mueller, of Vandalia, IL and the late Harold Bigham.
Scott grew up on a dairy farm in Illinois, and following his graduation from high school, and at the age of 17, joined the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a graduate of Southern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism. Scott was a partner in Bigham Cable Construction, based in Gulf Breeze, FL.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Angie Burton Bigham; step-son, Peyton Burton; step-daughter, Kadie Burton all of the home; his brother, Harold Bruce Bigham (wife Cindy) of Anderson; his sister, Ann Sumner (husband Jim) of Covington, GA; his step-mother, Margo Bigham of Gulf Breeze, FL; a step-brother, Jeff Smock of Taylors; his nieces and nephews; and his mother and father-in-law, Arnold and Joanie Sutter of Simpsonville.
He was predeceased in death by a step-brother, Chris Smock.
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 28th, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Gray Funeral Home of Laurens.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, September 29th, at 3:00 p.m. at the Covenant United Methodist Church in Greer, SC., and burial with Military Honors at Graceland East Memorial Park in Greenville.
A gathering and reception will follow the committal service at Mauldin United Methodist Church.
