SFC Ret. Edward L. Suits, Sr., age 68 of 205 Bailey St. died Saturday, April 28th at his home after a long illness.
He was born in Bartley, WVA and was a son of the late William Riley and Stella Honaker Suits.
Mr. Suits retired from the United States Army after 21 years of service to his country. During his military career he served two tours of duty with the 173rd Airborne Brigade in Vietnam and two tours in Germany. He was a former employee of Asten Johnson and was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Laurens. He was a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. in Clinton.
Surviving are his wife, Ann Brewer Suits of the home; one daughter Renee Penland and husband, Thomas, a granddaughter, Erin Penland all of Cross Hill; three brothers, John Stinson of Myrtle Beach, Glen Suits of Evergreen, AL, Darrell Ferguson of Pounding Mill, VA; five sisters, Marie McNeely of Hampton, VA, Eva Gaye Hubbard of Honaker, VA, Shirley Ratliff of Honaker, VA, Betty Hall of Marion, VA and Wanda Yates of Honaker, VA.
He was predeceased by one son, Spec4 Edward Lee Suits, Jr. and three brothers, Tom Suits, William Suits and Jimmy Ferguson.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, April 30th at 2:00 p.m. in the Gray Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment with full military honors will follow at the Pinelawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
