Shelba Jean Thompson age 86, and widow of E.L. Thompson passed away Friday, March 8, 2024 at Magnolia Manor in Spartanburg, SC.
She was born in Laurens County and was a daughter of the late Samuel Gray Nelson and Willie Drew Bayne Nelson.
Shelba was a former employee of 3M; Watts Mill and Lil’ Cricket. She was a member of Redemption Baptist Church, enjoyed camping and being part of the Swarm Missionary Group.
Surviving are two sons, Frankie Gene Griffin (Marla) of New Smyrna, FL, Kenneth Manning Griffin of Gray Court; a daughter, Tammie Finley of Woodruff; a sister, Patsy Harvey of Ft. Myers, FL; five grandchildren, Kayce Moore of Ware Shoals, Jonathan Finley of Enoree, Chelsie McDonald (Justin) of Woodruff, Cole Griffin (Natalie) of Laurens, Brandon Griffin (Madi) of Gray Court and ten great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband she was also predeceased by a son, Timothy Randall Griffin and her sister, Rebecca King.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, March 12th, 2024, at 4:00 P.M. at the Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Laurens with Rev. Ralph Byars officiating.
Burial will be at Rosemont Cemetery in Clinton, SC.
The family will receive friends Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service from 3:00 to 4:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Redemption Baptist Church, Hwy 221, Enoree, SC 29335.
The family will be at their respective homes.
