Sherwood David Burton, age 82, of 1513 Bellview Church Rd. died November 13, 2011 in the Majesty Health and Rehabilitation of Easley.
He was born in Rowan County, NC and was the son of the late William Walter and Gertrude Bentley Burton.
Mr. Burton was retired from B.F. Shaw Co., was a U.S. Army Veteran and was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith. He was also a talented musician, a brilliant inventor and a successful entrepreneur.
He is survived by his wife, Etta Mae Hartman Burton of the home; two sons, David D. Burton of Laurens and Lakeish Burton of the Laurens; three daughters, Carolyn Cromer of Laurens, Jean Holland of Tennessee and Kathy Rogers of Laurens; a brother, Robert Eugene Burton of NC and a sister, Odessa Wells of Rockwell, NC; 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Rita Woodward.
Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. in the Forest Lawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Gray Funeral Home of Clinton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ark Hospice, 101 Grace Dr., Easley, SC 29640.
