Simone M. Britt, 92 of Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Center was surrounded by family passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 9, 2007 at the Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Center in Laurens.
She was born on October 8, 1914 in Auburn, ME to Francois and Emire Chretien.
Simone attended the Boston School of Nursing where she graduated and worked as a registered nurse at the Boston City Hospital and Boston VA Hospital.
She met her husband Marshall C. Britt and left nursing to manage the Groton Airport and The M. C. Britt Drilling Company. Marshall and Simone loved to travel, especially to Shadow Lake, VT and to the Florida Coast line. They traveled until Marshall’s death in 1992. Simone built a house in Rolling Green’s Community of Greenville, SC where she resided until 2004 when she joined the Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Center. Simone never left her nursing skills far behind, she loved people and was adored by all.
Surviving are her children, Robert Britt and wife Beverly of Laurens, SC, Marsha Lynch and husband David of Highland Village, TX, Brenda Hamilton of Northville, MI; her late nephew, Gerry Chretien and wife Doris, nieces, Marlene Manelski of VA, Faye Brickel and husband Bob of ME; grandchildren, Timothy Britt and wife Judy of SC, Scott Britt and wife Lori of GA, Patrick Britt and wife Jennifer of SC, the late Mark Lynch and wife Margaret of TX, Brian Lynch of RI, Sean Lynch of TX, Jay Hamilton of SC; great grandchildren, Sally and Hanah Britt of SC, Logan, Nicholas, and Gracie Britt of GA, Samantha, Zoey and Jacob Britt of SC; great nephew, Marc Chretien and wife Jeanette of WI, great great nephews, Kyle, Joshua and Tony Chretien of WI.
Simone was predeceased by her husband, Marshall C. Britt, brother, Francois Chretien and wife, Louise of ME, grandson, Michael Lynch of MI.
A memorial service was held at the Martha Franks Rasor Chapel in Laurens, SC on Sunday June 10th at 2:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest beside her husband Marshall in Groton, MA.
