Susan Undari Young

Susan Undari Young, age 72, of Clinton, SC, wife of James Mason Young, Sr. passed away, Thursday, June 13, 2024.
Born November 17, 1951 in Torrington, Connecticut, she was a daughter of the late Alfio Rino and Margaret Stickney Undari. She was a proud alumnus of Clinton High School, received a BS from Winthrop University, and received a master’s degree from the University of South Carolina. Susan dedicated over 30 years of her life to teaching special needs children, working at Whitten Center, and as a Special Education Teacher in both Laurens County School District 56 and District 55. She retired in 2006 from Ford Elementary after teaching 27 years in District 55. After retiring she continued to serve the children of Laurens County by tutoring in the after school program at Thornwell Home for Children.
A devoted member of First Baptist Church, Susan served as the secretary and treasurer of the Ronnie Cheek Sunday School Class. She also served 29 years in the Clinton Federated Women’s Club. Susan loved playing bridge, growing her vegetable and flower gardens, traveling with family and friends, but most of all she loved her family and grandchildren. She loved attending recitals and sporting events for each of her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband of 48 years, Susan is survived by her sons, James Mason Young, Jr. (Jennifer) of Laurens, SC, and Jeffrey Thomas Young (Ashley) of Clinton, SC; seven grandchildren Mason, Davis, Lucy, Bennett, Charlotte, Savannah and Jackson Young; her brother, Peter Undari (Melinda); and her sisters, Donna Undari Brehmer (Larry), and Anita Undari Hicks (Michael).
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Clinton with Rev. Dr. Blake Harwell officiating. A private burial will be held at Pinelawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 from 6:30 – 8:30 PM at First Baptist Church of Clinton.
