Theresa Entrican Blocker

Theresa Entrican Blocker, age 86 of 302 Douglas St., passed away Thursday, January 2, 2014, at Agapeʹ Assisted Living. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on June 21, 1927, to Homer Lamar Entrican and Catherine Fenwick Entrican.
Mrs. Blocker is survived by her husband of 65 years, Harold Glenn Blocker of Laurens; children, Glenda Blocker (Buddy Hanson) of Warwick, GA, Mark Blocker of Chattanooga, TN, Elise Blocker Alvarez of Monrovia, CA, and Carson Blocker (LouAnn) of Vancouver, WA; and blended family including 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 8 ½ great, great grandchildren.
She was a lifelong Methodist and was a member of First United Methodist Church, Laurens, where she was the longest active member of the handbell choir and treasurer of the Wesley Sunday School class. She graduated from Young Harris High School near Hiawassee, GA.
Mrs. Blocker contributed to the life of her community by serving in the church, as a hospital volunteer, teacher’s aide, historic re-enactor and storyteller. She was always kind to neighborhood children, hosting Halloween parties for them with Glenn for many years. She made several mission trips to Mexico and Louisiana, and was always interested in the daily lives of people around her. She often said, after someone shared a heart-warming or amusing story, “Who needs TV when there’s real life?”
Funeral Services will be conducted Monday, January 6, at 11:00 A.M., at First United Methodist Church in Laurens, with burial at the Forest Lawn Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M., at the funeral home.
