Thomas "Tommy" Franklin Baker Sr.

Thomas “Tommy” F. Baker, Sr., age 84, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at his home.
He was born December 17, 1938 in Greenville, SC and was a son of the late Arthur Lee Baker, Sr. and Sallie Cogsdill Baker. He was retired from Greenwood Mills, and was a veteran of the US Navy. Mr. Baker was a member of the New Horizon Freewill Baptist Church. Tommy had a deep love for his family and friends. He loved dirt track racing and was the founder of Baker Racing, he was an avid fan of the South Carolina Gamecocks Football and Nascar.
Mr. Baker is survived by his wife of 62 years, Evelyn Clark Baker of the home; his sons, Thomas Franklin Baker, Jr. (Johnnie Kay) of Clinton, Arthur Lee “Bo” Baker (Liza) of Kinards, and David Allen Baker (Jamie Strickland) of Joanna; his daughters, Karen Jane Baker (Jason) of Joanna, and Cindy Kay Baker (Kevin) of Clinton; and many wonderful grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his children, William Robert Baker, Lisa Fay Baker, and Ann Marie Baker; and his siblings, Arthur Lee Baker, Jr. “Tex”, Charles Baker, Bobby Baker, Billy Bob Baker, and an infant sister.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, November 24, 2023 at 2 PM at his home, 1351 Young Road, Clinton, SC 29325.
