Thomas “Tommy” Francis Hollis, 89, was peacefully promoted to Heaven on Friday, January 13, 2012.
Born March 10, 1922 he was reared in Atlanta where he went through Atlanta public schools. He graduated from Presbyterian College and immediately entered the U.S. Army as a Lieutenant and served in the Pacific during World War II. After the war he started Hollis Transport Co. which he operated for 30 years. He then sold his business to devote full time to The Presbyterian Home. He volunteered for 10 years and became the first administrator of the Presbyterian Home and Frampton Hall in Clinton.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Amelia Payne Hollis and daughter, Renie Adair and husband, Charles, also his grandchildren, Page (Jody) Beckwith, Christopher Sayler, Hollis Adair and C. T. Adair and great grandchild, Amelia and a sister, Lucile Chism.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Nancy Hollis, a sister and two brothers.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 15th at 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall.
