Virginia Sligh Shealy, age 80, of 811 North Adair Street, died Wednesday, Mar. 14th at her home.
Mrs. Shealy was born in Newberry, SC and was the daughter of the late George Jacob Sligh, Sr. and Susie Wilson Sligh.
She graduated from Newberry College and was the May Queen in 1945.
Mrs. Shealy retired from the Clinton School District 56 as a bookkeeper and was a former member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church.
She was a loving mother to all her family.
Mrs. Shealy is survived by two sons, Michael Stephen Shealy and wife Alice of Las Vegas, Nevada and George W. "Binky" Shealy of Chapin; one daughter, Eleanor Elizabeth Shealy Brewer and husband Randall of Lexington, NC; one sister-in-law, Elizabeth O'Dell Sligh of Newberry; eight grandchildren, Regina S. Chaudoin, Roxane L. Shealy, Jeremy C. Power, Meredith Brewer Briley, Melissa D. Brewer, Brandon L. Shealy, Matthew J. Shealy, and Jonathan M. Shealy; six great-grandchildren; and three loving nieces and a nephew.
She was predeceased by her husband, Wyman McNary Shealy, Jr.; a brother, George J. Sligh, Jr.; and a sister Eleanor Sligh Beacham.
Graveside services will be conducted Monday, Mar. 19th at 3:00 p.m. at Rosemont Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Clinton.
