He was born in Spartanburg and was the son of the late Claude Powell and Gladys Brewington.
He is survived by his daughter, Leslie Zapot; his brother at heart, K.C. Rose; a niece Darla Rose; one brother Freddie; three sisters, Betty, Gail, and Linda; his special family, Chris, Edith Ann, and Chip Grant and Jamie Grant Hill and three grandchildren; and his girlfriend, Robin Dowell.
