W. Fuller Motes, age 92, died Thursday, Feb. 8th in the Martha Franks Retirement Center following a period of declining health.
He was born in Mountville, SC on May 15, 1914 and was the son of the late Rosa Lee Fuller Motes and Jesse Hogan Motes. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Emma Motes.
Mr. Motes is survived by two sons, Phil Motes of Augusta, GA and Tommy Motes of Laurens, SC; and four grandchildren.
He was a combat veteran of World War II, serving in the 36th Infantry Division throughout North Africa, Italy and Germany.
Mr. Motes was a retired state employee and farmer.
He was a member of the Mountville Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher.
Memorial services will be conducted Sunday, Feb. 11th at 3:00 p.m. at the Mountville Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Clinton on Saturday, Feb. 10th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
