Wiley Harris Davis, formerly of 3344 Old Milton Road in Clinton, SC, and, recently, of Presbyterian Home in Clinton, SC, was born on April 24, 1915 in Sandersville, GA.
She was the youngest of seven daughters of the late Fannie Bell Jordan and William Walter Harris.
Mrs. Davis attended Maryville College and married Lawrence Fuller Davis on April 6,1938 and was a devoted wife and mother to three daughters, Wiley, Trecie and Mary Belle. She helped manage a very successful farming business on Old Milton Road in Clinton, SC until her husband’s death in 1968. Afterwards she managed the family land and timber and provided a second home to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Davis delighted in preparing and hosting many family holiday celebrations and enjoyed young people and graciously opened her land for her family and friends to hunt. She enjoyed sharing the land that she loved with others. Mrs. Davis loved the wildlife, especially the birds that fed off the millstone in her backyard. She could identify each one and was at peace savoring the evening sunsets and God’s nature.
Mrs. Davis was active in First Presbyterian Church of Clinton during her younger years, teaching Sunday School, involved in Women of the Church and giving generously in many other ways .She also enjoyed being a member of the Sun Bonnet Garden Club. She was a beautiful and classy lady of character, steadfast in her convictions but warm in her love for others, an inspiration to all who knew her and will be missed very much, but is at peace in heaven.
Mrs. Davis is survived by her three daughters, Wiley Davis Forte, Trecie Davis Richey and her husband Paul, Mary Belle Davis Smith and her husband Skipper; her seven grandchildren, Lawrence Davis Forte and his wife Malissa, Maria Forte Lyon and her husband Greg, Frederick Bayon Forte, Harold Fleming Harris III, and his wife Cheryl, William Clay Harris, Angela Smith Hughes and her husband John, and Emily Alexander Smith and her fiancé Reed Wilson, as well as, her great grandchildren, Robert, Carly, and Haley Lyon and Henry and Alexander Hughes.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, November 18, 3:00 pm at First Presbyterian Church in Clinton, SC.
