William Carlisle “Bill” Patterson age 74, of Laurens passed away Sunday, November 13, 2016 at his home.
He was born in Augusta, GA and was a son of the late Horace and Betty Suhr Patterson.
Mr. Patterson was a distinguished graduate of Wofford College, and served as Student Body President Class of “64”. While at Wofford he became a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and later received his MBA from the University of South Carolina. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War being honorably discharged as a 1st Lieutenant. For more than 20 years, Bill has been a sales associate with Baldwin Automotive of Laurens. He was also a member of the Laurens First United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his children, Lyle Rivers and wife, Suzanne of Lexington, Andrew Patterson of Columbia, Kelli P. Roper and husband, Rob of Laurens; four brothers, Dr. Mel Patterson of Laurens, Joe Patterson of Aiken, David Patterson of Laurens, Lansing Patterson of Watkinsville, GA; grandchildren, McRae Rivers, Brayden Rivers, Elizabeth – Gray Rivers, Robert Roper, Reagan Roper and was predeceased by a grandson, Wyatt Carlisle Roper.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Nov. 17th at 11:00 a.m. in the Laurens First United Methodist Church, burial with military honors at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Gray Funeral Home of Laurens.
