William J. "Jackie" Petty Jr.

William J. "Jackie" Petty, Jr., age 69, of Clyde, NC, husband of Debra Moore Petty, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at his home.
He was born February 12, 1953 in Union, SC and was a son of the late William J. Petty, Sr. and the late Lona McCall Petty. Jackie was a former employee of Torrington Bearing Company, and Clinton Mills, and attended Believer’s Assembly Church. Jackie loved NASCAR racing, the Atlanta Braves, and singing karaoke, especially “Achy Breaky Heart.”
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Marya Gilliam, Nisty Smith (John Cotney), Sherry Dye (Byron), Wendy Harris (Jerry), and Lisa Mann; his son, Daniel Tisdale (Vinnie); his sister, Kathy Mangum (Mike); twenty-two grandchildren; and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Timothy Petty; and two sons-in-law, Chris Gilliam and Scotty Shay.
Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, January 6, 2023 at 2:00 PM at the Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Clinton with Rev. Mike Campbell officiating with burial to follow at Rosemont Cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 PM at the funeral home and will be at the home of his granddaughter, 508 Caldwell Street, Clinton, SC 29325.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1010 E. North Street, Greenville, SC 29601.
