William Earl Summers

William “Billy” Summers, age 80, of Agape Senior, died Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Whitmire, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Ruth Prather Summers. Mr. Summers was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict on the USS LST 1069. He received a UN Service Medal, a Korean Service Medal, and a National Defense Medal for his service.
Mr. Summers is survived by a daughter, Cindy Goss, of California; two sisters, Lillian “Eppie” Hallman of Clinton, and Pauline “Polly” Golightly of Laurens; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 15, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. in the Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Clinton. The family will receive friends before the service from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Whitmire, 309 S. Main St., Whitmire, SC 29178.
