William Worthy

William Worthy born Sept. 12, 1927 in Whitmire, SC. passed away at his home. He was the son of the late Wallace and Victoria Gregory Worthy. He was survived by his wife of 63 years to Betty J. Gaddis Worthy of the home; sons, Charles Worthy of the home and Allen Worthy (Betty) of West Columbia and daughter-in-law, Doris S. Worthy of Newberry; four grandchildren, Wanda Livingston (Travis), Christy Brown (Michael), Michael Worthy and Shawn Worthy; four great grandchildren, Brady and Ryan Livingston and Alana and Waylin Brown; brothers, Preston Worthy and Sunshine (Robert) Worthy of Whitmire, sister, Patricia King of Woodruff. Also a very special nephew, Claude (Fat Baby) Worthy of Whitmire
He was predeceased by two sons, Thomas (Butterball) Worthy and Darrel Wayne Worthy.
William was retired from J.P. Stevens Company and was a member of the Whitmire Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was a devoted and loving baby sitter of the children in the community. A special thanks to Dee Davenport and Tri County Hospice. The family appreciates all the love, prayers and support expressed during this time. William treasured all the visits and cards from every one. He would tell about each.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 4:30 p.m. in the Whitmire Pentecostal Holiness Church with interment in the Whitmire Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 25, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
