Mr. William Hamilton Renwick, Jr., 71, died November 1, 2008 at the Gilchrist Center for Hospice Care in Towson, Maryland after a long illness.
Born in Whitmire, South Carolina, Bill Renwick was the eldest son of the late William Hamilton Renwick, Sr. and Juanita Turner Renwick. He was a graduate of Greenville High School in Greenville, South Carolina. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Clemson University and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from University of Maryland. He also pursued graduate studies in Computer Sciences at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Bill had a long career as a senior electrical engineer for Westinghouse, working and living in England, Scotland, Germany and Maryland. He has various patents for the work he did there. He was a member of Tau Beta Pi and I.E.E.E., originally the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
He spent most of his adult life in Maryland, first Baltimore, then Cheverly, followed by Arnold. Bill enjoyed visiting family up and down the East Coast of the United States with his wife and daughter. He was a loving and devoted father to Lisa, with whom he spent much time laughing, sailing, windsurfing, skiing, rollerblading and bike riding. He was also a charter member of Gloria Dei! Lutheran Church in Arnold, Maryland.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Aleida Cattell Renwick, his daughter, Lisa Renwick-McCall, his grandson, Quinton Michael McCall, and one brother, Francis Marion Renwick.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday November 5 at the Whitmire Cemetery in South Carolina, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. Sunday November 9 at the Gloria Dei! Lutheran Church in Arnold, Maryland.
