William “Jimmy” Gambrell, age 74, of 256 Larchmont Rd. died Thursday, February 25, 2010 in the Laurens County Hospital.
He was born in Clinton and was a son of the late William “Fate” and Edith Whitaker Gambrell.
Mr. Gambrell was a retired OTR Driver and was of the Baptist faith. He was also an official with the S.C. High School Athletic Association.
He is survived by a son, William “Dusty” Gambrell and his companion, Janice Osborne of Gray Court; two daughters, Kathy Tucker and husband, Bobby of Laurens and Jackie Fowler and companion, Otis Owens of Greenville; two brothers, Daniel Gambrell and wife, Elaine of Laurens and Larry Gambrell and wife, Lou of Greenwood; a sister, Nancy G. Osborne of Laurens; 7 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and several beloved nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a beloved niece, Mary Cannon.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, Feb. 28th at the Eastside Baptist Church by Rev. J.D. Putman and Rev. J.B. Abercrombie with interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery with military rites.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
