Willie D. Edmonds went to be with the Lord on Dec. 27, 2006 after a lengthy illness. He was born in Madison, GA on June 15, 1931 and moved to South Carolina in early childhood and grew up in the Lydia Mill Community.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, seeing action on “Heart Break Ridge”’ and was a Golden Gloves Boxing Champion in his early teens.
He was a retired house painter; a professional pool player, competing against such greats as Minnesota Fats, Fast Eddie Felon and Colonel Harland Sanders.
He was preceded in death by parents, John M. and Mattie Lee (Hembree) Edmonds and sisters, Wilma Grant and Grace Nelson.
He is survived by a loving and devoted son and daughter-in-law, William Toby and Bobbie Edmonds; grandchildren, Jenny, Joseph and Reyanna Edmonds; step-children, Scott Moss, Diana Page, Wayne Moss and Emmett Buchanan; a sister, Jessie Mae Childress of Clinton and a brother, Rufus Edmonds of Joanna and a host of Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
Services were conducted Sunday, Dec. 31st by Rev. Michael Nelson with burial in Pinelawn Memory Gardens of Clinton.
Gray Funeral Home of Clinton assisted the family.
